Principal’s welcome

At Keppel Sands, we operate within a culture of high expectations. These expectations relate to stringent uniform expectations, student attendance and then into our classroom for teaching and learning experiences and results.

We are committed to ensuring we produce academic excellence in our students and we provide them with a myriad of opportunities to explore, learn and grow along their educational journey. We expect every child to learn within our school and we commit ourselves 100% to ensuring that our teaching and learning is up-to-date, relevant and centred around explicit teaching.

Due to the small size of our school, we know our students very well. We know where they are at in their learning, what their next learning steps are, where we want them to be within a range of timeframes and what is required to ensure success.

At Keppel Sands State School, we also value the environment and pride ourselves highly upon our standing within the Great Barrier Reef Guardian Association. Keppel Sands State School embraces its role as a reef guardian. The sea theme is evident where ever you look; from the seagull on the school badge to the ocean blue of the school uniform.

Our small school has very strong relationships within. These relationships are the backbone to our schools behaviour management, teaching and learning and success.  

Our school vision of "Inspiring successful, proud and confident learners" is evident everywhere within our school. In fact, we have built our school upon the three pillars of;

  2. Pride and
  3. Confidence


In 2018 our school improvement priorities have been rigorously actioned and closely monitored through both qualitative and quantitative data. These priorities are

  • Spelling
  • Attendance
  • Numeracy
  • Difference in Environment
